Black Mold Removal - Removing Black Mold The Natural Way

If you do not like the idea of harsh chemicals in many of the available black mold removal products, and even some of the household products recommended for the cleanup, there are some more natural and eco-friendly products you can use. Here is a short list to get you started:

Mould Removal Safe MOLD Shield

This black mold removal product is totally organic and safe with no harsh chemicals and is safe for pets and children to be around. It guarantees to kill the toxic substance as well as clean it up. Many times we might not know how bad of a case we have and just cleaning it up is not enough - we need to actually kill it to prevent it from coming back.

Bleach

If you have a small spot of contamination you should confine the area first. Then, follow the proper removal guidelines by making sure you have an air purifier and protective gear (e.g. goggles, respirator or face mask, gloves, etc). You then simply clean the area with a bleach and water solution. Bleach will clean as well as kill the mold to prevent future recurrences.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is another safe option when removing mold from your home. Hydrogen peroxide is a natural cleaning agent with antifungal properties. Using this is a much better choice than bleach in that it leaves no strong order afterwards. Pour a little bit into a spray bottle and spray it onto the contaminated area. Let it soak in for 10 minutes, then scrub.

Tea Tree Oil

For removing black mold the natural way, tea tree oil is another good alternative. You will have to do some measurements here, for the amount of tea tree oil you use depends on how much water you put into your spray bottle. You'll want to use one teaspoon of tea tree oil per cup of water. Then, simply spray it on the contaminated area and use a cloth soaked in the water to scrub it away.

Grapefruit Seed Extract

Grapefruit seed extract is an excellent agent for black mold removal, but also expensive. It may be worth the cost though, for the acid of the grapefruit is a natural killing agent to fungus. Grapefruit seed extract also leaves no order behind and you can find it in most health food stores. Use 10 drops of grapefruit seed extract per cup of water, and mix in a spray bottle. Spray the contaminated area and leave it. Leave it for a while (several hours) and come back to wipe access residue, if necessary.

How much will Mold removal cost?
We bought our house over a year ago knowing it was a fixer-upper. We completely gutted the basement which was infested with mold. We located where water was coming in, fixed the grading outside, and painted the walls with dry-lock. We also ran a dehumidifier and cleaned with bleach. Now that its summer again the mold has grown back and smells horrible and is causing sniffles and sneezing when we go into the basement. I want the professionals to come in. The basement has nothing in it besides the washer/dryer and tools and is 24x42', how much might this cost?

Is spraying down sheetrock with bleach an acceptable form of mold removal?
My shower has been leaking for 6 months or so. I told my landlord and she did a temporary fix twice that quickly started leaking again twice. Anyway she finally gets someone to open up the wall and there's all this mold in there. The solution, the repair guy says, is to spray it down with a strong bleach solution and then continue the repair. What should I do. Also, I need my deposit (or at least half of it) to move. How can I get it? (BTW the house is in better shape now than when I moved in).

Mold removal - can I do it, or I need to call a Professional?
We bought a foreclosed house. There is a mold on a carpet in the basement. We called mold expert just to make sure it is not poisonous. The results came negative, and when we asked how we are suppose to remove it, he suggested to remove the carpet, put the chemicals and sanitize the area, and we would be fine. We also asked a professional how much he would ask for, he said $2000. We do not know what to do because it is a lot of money, but at the other hand we are afraid we'd not be able to remove it as good as him? Does anyone have any suggestion, and how hard is it to do it, and is there a recommended chemical brand or type that could be purchased at the home improvement store, or the professional brands are far better?
