Mold ProblemsA mold infestation takes place whenever a surface is in contact with water for a long period. Mold is a type of fungus and not all surfaces may further its growth. Some specific factors are needed for a mold to grow:

  • Warmth
  • Moisture

Basements, cellars, dark places and hidden areas make a good feast for mold's growth. Underneath of sinks can be a common place to find an infestation. An untreated mold can cause damage to your furniture and belongings. It can be even a bigger threat to your house. The warmth and moisture in your house and on surfaces are the food for mold's growth. This causes significant damage to the surface itself. A mold is equally harmful for your health as it is to your household. Mold contains spores that can cause allergies, irritation, and various, serious complications.

A mold infestation could cause serious threats to you and your pets. Some of the problems associated with infestation are skin rashes, irritation, respiratory problems, and even miscarriage. Cancer is also a cause of prolonged exposure to mold infestation. The spores are the component that makes the mold fatal. These enter the respiratory system causing problems, allergies as well as irritation. Brain damage and lung cancer are the result of Stachybotrys, a toxic mold. Although the infestation of toxic mold is not very common however, prevention is always better than cure.

A recent survey concluded that most of the sinus problems in US every year are caused by mold infestations. Approximately 37 million residents with sinus problems are associated with exposure to molds. Additionally, there are other health concerns associated with mold infestation as well.

How do I get rid of mold in my apartment?
I have a lot of mold in my apartment. It's everywhere: walls, near the windows, the ceiling. The mold is not only black. It's red and other colours. I have no idea what to do. Would you tell me how to get rid of the stupid mold problem with natural products? A friend of mine said that a woman told her to use household bleach on the mold but I'm not sure it will work for me. What do you think I should do?

What are the laws regarding landlords and having running water in my kitchen?
We have had a serious mold problem under our kitchen sink and entire cupboards shelving unit for years now. There has been someone sent here 4 times in the past to fix the problem and each time the guy did a horrible job. On Friday afternoon a different guy came out and immediately said im taking pictures and this whole unit needs to be replaced. this is wonderful, however, he turned off the water to the sink and said we have to keep it that way until next week some time. It's ridiculous that we should have to go that long without running water in my kitchen. I have a 6 year old too, which make this even more ridiculous. I live in a big apartment complex in California. I went to the manager many many times over several years regarding the issue, she never took it seriously until the new guy came in and saw it for himself. I do not see anything happening any time soon considering I have lived here since 2003 and things always take a long time to get fixed. What I am wanting to know is how long should I have to go without having a working sink with running water in my kitchen before I am forced to take legal course?

MY COLLEGE SUITE-MATE IS TRYING TO GIVE ME AND MY ROOMMATE HER INFECTION!?
I need advice on what the hell to do! I have a college suite-mate ( We share a common bathroom, not a bedroom) & she is so grotesque! 1st: When we went on Christmas break, she left all her stuff in the bathroom (Rag, Body Sponge, Toothbrush, Towel, Etc.) -We have a mold problem ! 2nd: She Leaves her trash in our common hallway, so the whole hallway smells like Fish cake. She also lets her trash build up. 3rd: She Leaves her medication in the bathroom (That's how we found out that she has an infection) - That makes me and my roommate very uncomfortable. 4th: SHE DOES NOT WASH HER HANDS! -She leaves right out of the bathroom after she uses it. (There is hand soap in there for everyone to use) 5th: She does not use toilet paper (We know this because she has not flushed the toilet on numerous occasions) 7th: She drags dirt off her feet into the bathroom 8th: She left the rag that she uses on her vagina on the handle of the shower knowing that me & my roommate are going to have to remove it. She did not even take a shower before she left to remove it. 9th: She left one of her dirty rags with black stuff on it on my roommates bed. 1Oth: When Our toilet was backed up: She may have used the toilet on top of it being filled (I know this because when the toilet was clogged, there was water and tissue in the bowl, not feces) 11th: She has 3 white rags that she loves to use when she showers: How dare she still use one of them that I previously saw in the trash can and one that is sitting in the sink for I believe about four days now 12th: She leaves her nasty soap w. hair on it in the soap dish, knowing that me and my roommate are gonna have to remove it to shower. Last but not least: She be having phone conversions out loud, that me and my roommate can hear to her doctor about her infection down there.
